About us

Hello from the Darryl Hill Blues Band,
The band originally started as a four piece outfit with Darryl Hill on guitar, Blues harp & Keys. Darryl has been a sideman for the Late Luther Snakeboy Johnson and also was a member of Tops in Blue during the USAF, also a solo musician songwriter with finished albums on the market.
Bill Murphy was also featured on Guitar and vocals.
Gary Hunt held the bottom on Bass, Chris Schopp played electronic drums. That lineup stayed solid for 5 years playing all around New England.
The band eventually decided to grow in size and started to feature a horn section that consisted of Mike Zucco on Tenor sax and
Chris Arnold on trumpet. Mike and Chris were exceptional singers in their own right and added a big sound to the band. Also around that time we were including female vocals first from Sharon Wendy Robertson who did only two shows with the band and Stephanie Arnold was brought in to replace her. Stephanie is an amazing vocalist. Gary Hunt moved on to other things and was replaced by Russ Dougherty on Bass. This eventually down sized into Darryl, Bill, Chris Schopp and his brother Bill Schopp on bass and Chris Arnold on trumpet. This lineup continued for a couple of years more.

So now we are into our eighth year as a band and our present lineup (yes it did evolve again)
Darryl Hill guitar & keys Chris Arnold and Stephanie Arnold on trumpet and vocals
Russ Dougherty on Bass and our latest addition to the band Gary Johnson on Drums and Paul Delahanty on Blues Harp and vocals.
Gary has played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Artie Shaw Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie and just too many to mention all in the world of jazz. Paul goes way back in history with Darryl as an original member of the Swampwater Blues Band. Paul and Darryl woodshedded together for many years learning everything they could about the Blues wearing out grooves in records and playing the Boston Blues Scene. Paul is probably one of the best harp players going and has been known to send goosebumps to all that witness him.
This combination so far seems to be the tightest of all but, it really has been the contribution of all members to date that has kept the band on the top of the ranks on Gigmasters best Blues band in New England. We plan on staying there. See you somewhere in New England and we have played every state well except Maine and New York so something to work for.
